ABOUT
Susan:
Susan followed her father's career and served as an officer in the US military, while following her mother's profession as a registered nurse. After 25 years, she continues to practice as a Critical Care and Emergency nurse. Concurrently, Susan has worked in 5 different medical centers employed as a Patient Care Coordinator/Nursing Supervisor, assisting staff nurses and hospital administrators. Her experience has built a business where she can promote trusted medicine by continuing to advocate for the patient, the practitioner, and for the compliance to professional Standards of Care.
Quinn-Ellis Medical Legal Consulting
Our goal is only to provide quality work.
We look forward to building relationships with our attorney clients in an effort to assist them with their cases and the justice they seek.
In a Time where health care is ever changing, the one thing that remains constant is the need for observed standards. The healthcare's Standards of Practice are governed by our medical and nursing experts and the academies they represent. It is a privilege to promote those standards despite any obstacle.
In Critical Care/Emergency Nursing we say:
"Time is cardiac muscle" and "Time is brain tissue". These reference a patient who may be suffering from a heart attack or stroke respectively. The reality for Quinn-Ellis Consulting, is that, for every person requiring medical attention, it is Time to get it right. Timely delivered care when available often is the variable directly related to patient outcome...resulting in success over failure.
Quinn-Ellis Medical Legal Consulting says:
A. It is Time, for the customer/patient to recognize the immediate resources available (or unavailable) for treatment and the inherent risks of medical interventions:
--Patient's medical conditions are often diagnosed and treated to the best of the practitioner's ability, regardless of outcome
--Recognizing the risk/benefit ratio of all rendered care, which may result in an unsuccessful outcome
--Informed consent and the contract it represents
B. It is Time, for the skilled and licensed medical/nursing provider, to act prudent with every opportunity:
--Treating every patient with diligence
--Timely endorsed physician consults
--Timely written orders and rendered care
--Adherence to all medical and nursing Standards of Practice
Susan has dedicated these 25 years of nursing practice to recurrent training and recurrent certification. Taking an oath was the start to a productive career, and CE (continued education) is the key to continued success.
As a member of the Emergency Nurses Association (ENA) and the American Association of Critical Care Nursing (AACN), I recognize that with evidence-based-research, Standards of Care are created and Quality is promoted.
In 2008, Susan completed an intensive and dynamic course certifying her as a CLNC® (Certified Legal Nurse Consultant). This has given her the framework to understand the legal system as it pertains to Medical Malpractice and Personal Liability.
This CLNC® curriculum for legal nurse consulting includes:
---the litigation process (Pre-Litigation Phase through Tort Reform)
---the theories of liability used in medical related cases
---strategies for helping attorneys with Discovery
---strategies for helping attorneys develop Demonstrative Evidence
---the role of Consulting and Testifying experts
In 2009, Susan joined the Christian Legal Society and has felt it to be a great privilege to remain a welcomed member.
